私は東京在住のピアニスト兼ピアノの教師です。アメリカのカンザス州出身です。2023年にアメリカオハイオ州のオービリン大学、並びに音楽院にて英文学科とピアノ演奏科課程を同時に修了しました。2023年から2024年の一年間、プリンストン イン アジア(Princeton in Asia)のメンバーとして岡山県矢掛町の保育園と小学校、また図書館でも子供達に英語を教えました。
私は英語教授法 (TEFL/TESOL) の資格を持っています。

４歳から６歳まで
Because students will struggle to play the piano at this age, I will help build foundational music skills, such as rhythm, note identification, and singing, Good musicians must be good listeners, and I will help students hone their listening skills, introducing them to music of all kinds as well as their own favorite music. Children are energetic, and I hope to foster their curiosity through play with music. My hope is to encourage young learners to have fun and be curious about music, as well as set them up well for piano lessons in the future.

手が小さく指が鍵盤に届かないこの時期に、歌ったり、リズム感覚や音符を読む力など音楽の基盤を養います。
良いミュージシャンは良い耳を持っています。新しいジャンルの音楽や子供達が好きな歌を通して聴く力を育てます。
子供達は元気いっぱいなので、歌あそび、ダンス、塗り絵や絵本などを使いながら遊び感覚で学習します。
子供達の好奇心を大切にしながら、楽しく音楽と英語の力を付けるお手伝いをします。
７歳以上
At the piano, I will build listening and playing skills. I teach students of any age and any level, working in the classical genre. I will work closely with the student to achieve their personal goals at the piano and with English.
I also offer separate lessons away from the piano, focused on music history, theory, listening, and English practice.
大人
As an adult, it can be daunting to play an instrument! Whether it’s a new hobby or you’re continuing with the instrument, I want to help you achieve your personal goals. I will work closely with you to fit piano study into your weekly routine, play the music you want to play, and have fun at the instrument!
I also offer separate lessons away from the piano, focused on music history, theory, listening, and English practice.

Teaching Philosophy
Who do I teach?
I teach any and all ages, with a focus on early students of music and piano.
When starting lessons, I chat with the student (and their parent(s)/guardian) to hear and develop goals for music and piano study.
Why do you want to study piano? Do you want to study piano at a high level/competitively? Do you want to pick up a new hobby? Do you want to play “Merry-Go-Round of Life” by Joe Hisaishi? I want to hear any reason you have, and I will help you reach that goal.

At this age, piano practice and study can be difficult. However, this is the perfect time to begin the study of music. Drawing on music theory and music history, I work with students away from the piano to develop their ears and interest in music. I teach these lessons in English. I will cater vocabulary and language study depending on the student’s English-speaking level.

1) Piano lessons: Through Piano Method books and repertoire, I help students build technique, musicality, and work ethic. Piano lessons are taught in English.
2) General Music Lessons: I offer music lessons away from the piano, focusing on ear training, music theory, and music history. This is a great opportunity to build your skills as a musician while practicing English.
Students may take both Piano Lessons and General Music Lessons, or just one. Both lessons are taught in English.

For adult learners, I work very closely with you to fulfill what interests and goals you have in piano and music study. Perhaps that means learning a particularly piece, learning about a particular composer or performer you like, or chatting generally about music in English. I understand the busy quality of adult life and difficulties of taking up an instrument, and I look forward to having fun with you through music!
